After reading a few posts. The problem is definitely the screen because I tested it on another PC; Same behaviour.
For the time being, my mother is using another screen and can continue her work. However, she has no intention of a keeping a rectangular screen similar to the HP 2159m. She wants a replacement square one, and she won't bother using an old bulky cathode tube screen either. (no room on her desk) As for her busted FLATRON L1718S, I am trying to get her open by prying off its face, no good so far.
There are no screws at all anywhere, although it does have screw holes in the back. (I guess it never had any) A little help here, please. After reading a few posts.
